Hello and Welcome

Hi. Welcome to my blog. This is the beginning.

I hope to bring to you all kinds of information and insight and inspiration - all about the world of landscaping, right here in Austin, Texas. I hope this will become a space where you can learn about landscaping, and then you become more involved in the the Earth, terra firma - the dirt - and the plants. All the great plants. And make yourself a great garden, a great space.

Exciting for me, I get to share with you all sorts things that I see that you may not see. All kinds of secrets, but they aren't really secrets at all. It's a lot of information, all those plants. Yet, it isn't just great plants that we are after, it's great design - a design that makes you feel good - happy, delighted, when you see it, travel through it, come home to it. And how do we create this design, this feeling? Which plant goes where? I will get to that, and more.

Keep coming back, and you will see a growing database of plants, with really great info and photos. (I love photography, and if you do, please send in pics, lots of pics.) Lots of photos, great photos. And clear, easy information, on a variety of subjects such as: design, plants, materials, growing food, architecture, sustainability, great rocks, beautiful places, garden history, eco-travel, art and of course, some great food and drink. It's a blog!

I want you to send in photos and ask me questions. I want to hear the things people want to know about, and I have so much to show you about the very, exciting landscape world we live in.

For this inagural column, let me start by showing you this old photo of my garden. You will soon see how it has progressed. Largely it is an experiment. A place I try things. I will keep you posted on what works, and doesn't. In the meantime, I hope to show you a lot of things, about the Austin landscape.
